DOROTHY AND TOTO STAMP SKETCH

Morning, friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and were able to get some creative time into your life.

I was watching the Wizard of Oz last night and decided to do some sketching at the same time. I drew a few Dorothy and Toto sketches but nothing too exciting so I put down my sketchbook and really enjoyed myself watching one of my all time favorite movies.

I woke up this morning and drew this. I will be making her into a stamp (I promise she will be in one piece, I ran out of paper!)

I cant even tell you how many times I have seen it. I have been watching it since 2 years old. The first time I saw the wicked witch I ran behind the couch! She still freaks me out with that big green laughing close up scary face in the crystal ball! Holy crap!

Every time I see it I see something new, a background I never noticed or a bird moving around in a tree or a part of a costume I had never seen before.

I think I can recite the whole movie and all of the songs in my sleep I have seen it so much. But the best memory is watching it with my Dad. He passed away in 1994 on October 14 which is why I think about him so much this time of year. It is one of my most happy memories with him!

I hope you love it as much as I do. My favorite line of all is when the Wizard is giving the Tin Man his heart and says, "A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others." I am getting teary eyed, I just love that line so much, its so beautiful.

I would love to hear your favorite part or line in the Wizard of Oz. Do you love it like I do?

WHAT I LEARNED FROM THE "LOVE FAIRY"

Hello Friends!

I hope you are all having a wonderful and creative week.

I just finished inking my "Love Fairy" and listed her as a digital stamp design. (along with "Holly the Christmas Friendship Fairy")

I originally designed "Love Fairy" in February for a Valentines Day card/print set but never finished her in time. She has been nudging me from time to time since then to finish inking her. And in that time she has become so much more to me than a cute Valentines Day card. She has become a part of my life with the words that I wrote to go along with her.

Over the past months since I fell and fractured my knee, which is much better now, I spent alot of time alone and with my journals. I love to journal as you know and have gratitude, abundance, affirmation, creative dreams and love journals I write in whenever I can.

What I have been writing about in my love journal lately is the I love me, I love Michelle Perkett! It sounds silly but I have taken that love from the pages of my journal and have made myself say the same words to myself every morning in the mirror, and really mean it! I have come to smile and laugh now when I say these words because they so make me feel great!

I have added more "mirror affirmations" everyday and I even kiss the mirror (sometimes with my lipstick on!) so I give myself extra love! I intend to do this everyday and encourage you to do the same thing. After all, as The Love Fairy wants us all to know, if we dont love ourselves how can we share it with the world?

I now share my love today and everyday with all of you, thank you so much for your love back to me that you share with me everyday! I appreciate every one of you!

Michelle :)

"QUEEN OF HEARTS" SKETCH

I hope everyone is having a wonderful "back to school" week and getting some well deserved creative time.

I have been swamped with petsitting over the holiday weekend so I was glad to be back to a normal schedule this week. I was craving my little sketchbook and drawing so badly!

I drew a little "Queen of Hearts" birthday girl and am going to make her into a digital stamp. I was inspired by Alice in Wonderland and was sketching Alice and her friends at the Mad Tea Party. The inspiration from these sketches jumped onto the next page and I began drawing my little cupcake queen with her crown of hearts.

I cant tell you how much I love designing my digital stamps. I am happier than I have been creatively in such a long time and always love sketching but now it seems like ideas are almost flowing thru me now. Its like magic! Dont you love it when that happens?!?

I'm also finishing inking some Christmas fairy stamp designs for a company in Florida, she will have my other fairy stamp designs and my bio posted this week, so I will let you know when I'm on her website. Really excited about that!

What are you guys working on this week? Any new cards? sketches? paintings? scultptures? Did you find any magic in your sketchbook? Would love it if you'd share, that is my favorite thing, hearing about the wonderful enchantment of creative inspiration in all of you!

HOW A YEAR OF BLOGGING SAVED MY CREATIVE LIFE

Hello dear friends,
Tomorrow is my one year blog anniversary and I wanted to tell you all how grateful I am to have all of you as friends and followers of my blog. It is because of you that I have been here for one year.
The other day I was in Michaels and found a new journal (my new obsession!) This one will be my new gratitude journal. It reads, "wake and be thankful...See the good in every day" which is exactly how I feel every day I come to my blog.
As I look back on the last year of blogging here I am reminded of all of my creative highs and not so highs! :) But because I have had the support of my friends here on a daily basis, I am here on the eve of my first year of blogging.
The creative support and friendship I have found thru my blog, the opportunities that have come to me and the new direction I have found to take my art in has been immeasurable to me as an artist. I swore to myself I will "never give up" on my art until I have reached my idea of success. Some days my dreams are bigger than others, but still they are my creative dreams!
In the last year I have recieved opportunities to write articles for online magazines, have my artwork licensed, and design work that I love. I have also found a new life for my art and creativity designing rubber stamps and I know the next year will be even better for me and of course for all of you who have been with me thru it all.
I cant even begin to tell you how special you make me feel with your beautiful comments every time I post. It has given me motivation and strength that is priceless to any artist. You have given me even more reason to be grateful that I am an artist.
Thank you all for being such lovely friends. I appreciate all of you so much. You have all helped save my creative life!
Love,
Michelle :)
