MORE CORAL MERMAID SNEEK PEEKS

Here is another Sneek Peek at Coral, I have been trying desperately to get my creative mojo back in action and besides my weekly freebies I have had a little bit of creativity that I managed to squeeze out of myself.

I hate this feeling of such creative "dryness" I've gone thru worse times before this. I remember a few years ago I went 4 months without creating anything so this is nothing compared to that!

Anyhow, please keep me in your prayers that it comes back soon because I REALLY miss it! Until then here is another peek at Coral, she's almost finished! Yay!

ANOTHER SNEEK PEEK AT "CORAL" MERMAID

I've been making progress on my new "Coral" mermaid, so much detail but I'm loving that my creative mojo is slowly coming back to life:) Work is pretty busy this month which is a good thing but it sure does get in the way of my creative process!

NEW CREATIONS

Hi all! I have been busy lately working on a couple of things, the first is a birthday gift that I finally framed for a friend and I added diamond Stickles glitter glue to the print and the outside of the frame, this was so much fun I'm working on some little ATC's of the same for my Etsy shop:)

And I finally finished a really fun job for my church that I so enjoyed working on. Our parish is building a new church that is due to be finished on 12/12/12 and the cross on top of the church will be going up in a few weeks and my artwork is going inside of the cross as a kind of "time capsule" and will be signed at the bottom of the scroll with my artwork by over 2,000 parishioners. The prayer is the Apostle's Creed and the scrollwork was such fun to work on I used a gold calligraphy pen to touch up the leaves and the outline of the cross. I will also be featured in our upcoming church bulletin:) You never know where your creativity will take you, do you?:)

WATERCOLOR, INK AND GLITTER PRINT WITH QUOTE

Happy Saturday everyone, I hope you are all enjoying your weekend and gearing up for the holidays.

I was sketching some fun quotes in my sketchbook and thought it would be fun to combine watercolor, ink and glitter and came up with a little fun illustration on some watercolor paper. The background is a really pale pink but didnt show up in the scan along with the glitter but I'm trying to get a good shot with my camera.

I also bought a teal frame and added some glitter to the edge of it, it looks really cute, just have to get a good pic:)

ST LUCIA WATERCOLOR/GRAPHITE PAINTING

I got out my watercolors and glitter (which you cant see in this scan) the other day and had a little fun with my St. Lucia Christmas sketch.

I had SO much fun painting and letting my inner artist play, it felt so good!

I googled St Lucia and got a little background on her, I thought I'd share it:

St Lucia was a young Christian girl who was martyred, killed for her faith, in 304AD. The most common story told about St Lucia is that she would secretly bring food to the persecuted Christians in Rome, who lived in hiding in the catacombs under the city. She would wear candles on her head so she had both her hands free to carry things. Lucy means 'light' so this is a very appropriate name.

December 13th was also the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, in the old 'Julian' Calendar and a pagan festival of lights in Sweden was turned into St. Lucia's Day.
St. Lucia's Day is now celebrated by a girl dressing in a white dress with a red sash round her waist and a crown of candles on her head. (Normally electric candles are used for safety!) The crown is made of Lingonberry branches which are evergreen and symbolise new life in winter. Schools normally have their own St. Lucias and some town and villages also choose a girl to play St. Lucia in a procession where carols are sung.

NEW "CORAL" THE MERMAID SKETCH!

Happy Wednesday! I have been filling up my sketchbook with lots of fun stuff lately and have been working in graphite again for a change as well as watercolor. It is so fun to be working in color again and am drooling over the yummy watercolors in my palette, its been years since I used them and they are good as new, just like they've been waiting for me!

I drew a new mermaid named "Coral" that I'd thought I'd share with you all, she will be made into an stamp soon, I promise!
