DOROTHY AND TOTO STAMP SKETCH

Morning, friends! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and were able to get some creative time into your life.

I was watching the Wizard of Oz last night and decided to do some sketching at the same time. I drew a few Dorothy and Toto sketches but nothing too exciting so I put down my sketchbook and really enjoyed myself watching one of my all time favorite movies.

I woke up this morning and drew this. I will be making her into a stamp (I promise she will be in one piece, I ran out of paper!)

I cant even tell you how many times I have seen it. I have been watching it since 2 years old. The first time I saw the wicked witch I ran behind the couch! She still freaks me out with that big green laughing close up scary face in the crystal ball! Holy crap!

Every time I see it I see something new, a background I never noticed or a bird moving around in a tree or a part of a costume I had never seen before.

I think I can recite the whole movie and all of the songs in my sleep I have seen it so much. But the best memory is watching it with my Dad. He passed away in 1994 on October 14 which is why I think about him so much this time of year. It is one of my most happy memories with him!

I hope you love it as much as I do. My favorite line of all is when the Wizard is giving the Tin Man his heart and says, "A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others." I am getting teary eyed, I just love that line so much, its so beautiful.

I would love to hear your favorite part or line in the Wizard of Oz. Do you love it like I do?

Michelle :)

Love your Dorothy and Toto is adorable. Can't remember the last time i watched TWOO, and even then it probably wasn't all the way through. Much like Alice in Wonderland, i made a point of watching that with Brett after we took him to the Mad Hatters Tea Party but i was bored with the Disney film, all i could think was what was Lewis Carol on when he wrote it lol.Did you see the photos? They are on Flickr now if you want to check them out as well as all sorts of other stuff http://www.flickr.com/photos/41866047@N02/ Hope you're keeping well now, big hugs my friend x

I watched the Wizard of Oz last night also. I noticed in the scene where the tin man sings and dances that his hat has the handle on the right side, but when the witch appears, makes her threat and vanishes, the handle on his hat is on the left side. I like when the tin man tells Dorothy "Now I know I have a heart, because it is breaking." Your sketch is wonderful.

Love your sketch of Dorothy & Toto! My favorite line in the Wizard of Oz - well I think it's the whole movie actually. My sister and I used to act it out on our tape recorder when we were little. I still have one of those tapes and boy does it make me laugh. Thanks for sharing with us!

Oh Michelle, I love this stamp! That's great! Hands down, my favorite character is the scarecrow. "Oh, if only I had a brain!"
Somehow, I relate with that!

Ooooo I will need this stamp! This is also MY all time fav film and I have to watch it at least twice a year LOL. When my boys were small they all fell in love with it too and because they watched it so often picking out details became fun for me too. Have you noticed how the length of dorothy's bunches changes from scene to scene LOL! My youngest son loved dorothy's ruby slippers so much (he was 6 at the time) he put them on his Christmas list so I made him some......he still has them and he's now 26 haha!!!!
